I was a team leader in two different projects implementing a VOD platform for large, international clients. The scope included application support on all types of devices including TVs. My team's interfaces are used by users in the US, Europe and the Middle East.

Location-Based Content
Breaking news, local programs and film materials, all on one platform any subscription needed. LocalNow is the leader in American video content services, which I had the opportunity to co-create as a Senior Product Designer.
Local Now's business model is based on free access to content that is displayed with ads. Users can enjoy the highest quality movies, series and live programs. Importantly, all content is tailored based on location, which makes the platform more tailored to the needs of the user. The Local Now platform is available only in the United States and is used by millions of people every day. The service is based on three main types of content: Channels, Movies and Shows.
Interaction Design
Few people had the opportunity to build interfaces in Adobe After Effects. This tool for advanced film post-production and animation became the ideal environment for designing and testing microinteractions, a very important element of Local Now. Each element was animated using keyframes and then these values were converted into code consistent for all platforms.
As a result, we had full control over the handling of all events and animations on all devices independently.
The real challenge was to design a consistent interface for multiple platforms and device types. All to ensure the best user experience. The product is available as an iOS and Android app, a web version for mobile devices and computers, and a number of independent TV apps.
Design Process
Prototyping
Designing new screens was a complex but structured process. Thanks to this, we were aware of the business assumptions, user needs and technology at all stages.
We held regular meetings to discuss functional needs. Our team validated the assumptions by prototyping new functionalities. Prototyping new functionalities was done with the support of methods such as storyboarding, benchmarking and wireframing. New mockups gradually filled the previously defined process, becoming a logical part of the customer journey. All prototypes were then discussed at special meetings, where further decisions were made. Rapid prototyping combined with scenario testing is an effective method of implementing new functionalities.
Interface
The interface is also the visual and voice layer (UI) that defines the quality of the product and makes the user journey more intuitive. Do the details matter?
The final design of the interface is made up of many variables, such as a well-conducted prototyping stage, knowledge of complex design principles, implementation of WCAG standards or conducting usability tests. The interface is contrast, color, typography, photos, layout, but also microinteractions and messages. All these details and much more combined into one coherent whole give us a one-of-a-kind user experience. In Local Now, I was directly involved in the design work, using tools such as Adobe XD and Adobe After Effects.

The individual components and their variants allowed us to design every possible scenario, eliminating potential user errors. Our design system was created based on extensive experience, research, and scenario testing. Each component has been carefully thought out, making the application layout fully responsive and easy to use.
A fully custom design system is an investment in a unique look and faster creation of new screens. In our case, ready-made components for visual design also served to create consistent code for all available platforms.
